Ragnar Colorado!

July 27-28 (the weekend following NWP) Aspen to Vail to Breckenridge.

My question is, does this change anything? Are we going to travel to Seattle when we have the same thing here? It would be cheaper and easier with childcare but do we want to get further away?

If it were any other weekend, it might be possible to do both, but 5 days of rest in between is crazy. So it's got to be an either/or. My husband has been dying to join in on this, so if he really wants to get a team together I will probably choose the cheaper option.

What are you guys thinking??? Susan, thoughts?

Northwest Passage this weekend

Hey M.O.M.'s... Ragnar Northwest Passage 2011 is this weekend.  If you're not facebook friends with Ragnar, then now is a good time to "like" them.  I bet we will see lots of pictures and comments about the race and it will hopefully further excite us for next year and/or help prepare us for any potential issues.

After this weekend, THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! :)  Yeehaw!

Bolder Boulder kids etc.

Who is running the Boulder Bolder this year? Everyone but Morgan is in our family so wondering if anyone wants to watch her early in the morning Memorial Day. Our start time is 8:27am so probably between 7-7:15am till around noon.

Also, if we could get someone to drive and drop so we didn't have to park I'd love to arrange something like that! We have 2 extra spots in our car. Last year we rode the bus and the traffic was so bad we were a half hour late to our start. We were literally on the bus for over an hour and everyone on the bus missed their start. Anyway, this year the start is different so maybe it will be improved. But being dropped off is the BEST way to go... The Brasiers will reward you in bread/goodies :)

Northwest Passage, here we come!

The vote is in and the M.O.M's are going to Seattle! Northwest Passage, here we come! Last night was our annual "post Ragnar" celebration where we invite our husbands along to celebrate our accomplishment. We had a great time eating amazing food, and laughing at all the stories the husbands told about their time alone with the kiddos. Then, we got to watch Kristin's incredible video and relive our Ragnar experience all over again. THANK YOU KRISTIN. The video is simply perfect.

(If you want to watch the video bigger, just click on the Vimeo button)
I passed the official slap bracelet off to our new team captain, the lovely, the talented, the beautiful, SUSAN. She announced next year's destination by giving us all a little gift filled with things about Seattle--a Starbucks cup, poncho, Sweedish Fish(for the fish market), Teen Spirit deodorant (Nirvana), and green rock candy because Seattle's nickname is "the Emerald City." All in all, a perfect evening! Can't wait until July 2012!

Good luck ladies!

Just wanted to say Good luck to all my MIND OVER MILEAGE momma's!  You guys are going to kill it this weekend.  Just a few short years ago I was sitting on my couch with Jarrie and Kristin and saying "wouldn't it be cool to get some of us together and do a relay race"  of course Jarrie was all over that idea and Wasatch Back 2010 came to pass.  Now my sweet friends are heading to California this weekend (without me I may add) to conquer another awesome course---just know I'm cheering you on from AZ.  You guys are now bigger and better than ever.  I'm so excited for you and I know you will all do great and I can't wait to hear all about it.

Just remember !!

You Can Do Hard Things!!  (bwahahahaha)

Love you ladies,
Adrienne

Minor changes

Here are the last few leg changes. Sorry everyone :( But, they are not too different.

Kristin (leg 9) 6.1 miles (was 6 miles)
Steph (leg 28) 6.1 miles (was 5.7 miles)
Amy (leg 29) 3.0 miles (was 4.0 miles)
Tara (leg 35) 5.2 miles (was 4.2 miles)
Susan (leg 36) 6.1 miles (was 7.1 miles)

I couldn't sleep last night b/c I was so excited!!!!

Race Weather

From what I can tell, the weather this weekend is going to be sunny and warm/hot compared to what we're used to training in. I don't think I'm going to worry about rain gear, maybe not even extra shoes, we'll see how much room I have when packing. Don't forget your sunglasses!! I'm starting to get the nervous jetters... See you soon! -Steph

Calling all van drivers...

Just thought I would mention that if you are a van driver and think their is a chance you will be talking on the phone while driving, it is California law to use a headset while driving. Just a heads up.

Weather

So I just talked to my friend in Newport. They had hail last night! Yes, hail! Be prepared.

Last minute preparations...

Hey everyone, I am getting excited! Just about to head out on my last long run, in the snow! I wanted to ask what everyone is running this next week before the race. I don't want to overdo it or underdo it.

Also, I am hoping my van will be to Newport by 2:30 or 3:00. Since we are not all meeting until 5:30, I think it would be fun to rent beach bikes for an hour or two and cruise the boardwalk. Maybe shop on Balboa island. Let me know who is interested. It will not be strenuous. The boardwalk is totally flat!

Also, I am wondering about breakfast Friday for van two. I personally do better when I eat fairly normally, but I know this is not true for everyone. Their is a place called Charlie's that we eat at every summer. My husband lover their French toast and pancakes, and I always go for hashbrowns since I don't eat bread. I don't know if their is time or if this is too heavy for some of you. If not it might be fun. Let me know what you think.

Survey

Hi Girls--
I'm working on a little something and need you all to fill out this survey by Sunday night. I realize that some of the questions require you to know most of you teammates. If that is not the case for you, just leave the questions you can't answer blank. Everyone else--fill out ALL the questions.
Make sure you use the scroll bar to get to all the questions--you should see a "submit" button when you are done.

If it's not done by Sunday I will hunt you down.... :)

Notes from the Captains meeting

Hi All! Just a few notes from the Captains meeting that I wanted to pass along to you.

There ARE Hydration Stations at every major exchange. We will be able to fill up water bottles. This will significantly cut down on the amount of water we need to buy. Yay!

Food Along the course--there will be food for sale at exchange # 12 (fajitas) and exchange #30 (breakfast) It will be $8, CASH ONLY

MAKE SURE YOU BRING PLENTY OF CASH. It looks like most Ragnar gear, and all food and whatnot at the exchanges is cash only. It would also probably be easier to pay for gas with cash as well.

There are NO showers this year. Period. :(

There is NO indoor sleeping this year. That shouldn't matter too much to us b/c we have our comfy vans. he he he

There will be water stations on NON SUPPORT legs longer than 4 miles.

The non support legs are #12 (Tara) #17 (Amy B) #18 (Bri) #19 (Natalie) #20 (Jess) #30 (Natalie)

DOUBLE CHECK your legs--there have been some minor changes. And there will probably be a few more before race day. But the race director promised nothing more major than a few tenths of a mile. We'll see.....

Digi Scrapper

So I am a HUGE digital scrapbooker and have been for about 5 years now. I am on several creative teams for various digi-scrapbooking stores and have to create layouts using various people's kits. I ran onto this kit the other day and knew it has the perfect "retro" feel for our Ragnar pictures. I posted in various galleries and apparently it has made a little splash. It has been nominated for several "layout of the day"s recognition. It just really wouldn't be that great of a page without Amy's hard work and efforts on the photos. Thanks Amy! I did change my background to match my paper. I think I would like to create another page using everyone's pictures- just to go opposite this page in my album.

Anyway...long explanation as to why it's here...just thought I would share!

Tiny Change to start time

It's now at 7:15 instead of 7.

Finally...I know

I am finally posting on the MOM blog to let everyone know that, YES, I booked my plane tickets. I am not really this much of a procrastinator, but when I realized that we only had three more weeks, it was probably time to find an itinerary. And then I was so excited because as I was looking for tickets tonight, I came to the realization that I went to freakin' China last year and I had all these miles sitting there. So cost of my tickets? $5.00! I am pretty proud of myself...

Also, the shirts are in to the screenprinter and they will be way cute! We might just have to have a pre-race party and do an unveiling...

Hope your training is going great and I can't wait for our adventure!!

"The Stick"

Can I show you my new favorite friend?

I think it's just as good as a foam roller, and not near as awkward. My calves are so happy!
I got mine at Road Runner Sports for about $20.

Night Run

We had a great time on run #2 last night! 5 miles, in the dark, on Vista Ridge hills. Good thing Bri was with us--she couldn't be missed! We all loved her bright yellow jacket.

Run #1 started from Jen's house. She babysat about 15 kids while we ran. Can we say, "Friend of the Year???"

Run # 3 was another 5 miles early this morning. THANK HEAVENS FOR THE HOT TUB!!!

Racing Season Begins!

It's hard to believe with this long, cold winter that racing season has begun! We went to St. George for the weekend and I decided to run a 10 k at the last minute with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. It was in gorgeous Snow Canyon. I was planning on running ten miles yesterday, so I decided to run the race bandit since registration was already closed and continued on four miles more with my brother-in-law after the finish line. I ran the 10k in about 8 min miles which was great. Brennon ran it in 6'30" miles, so it was good to run 4 more miles after with him since he is faster than me. It really pushed me which was awesome. I am really feeling it today though, especially in my injured knee, but it was still great. I think its good to train with faster runners sometimes to push yourself. He was not that fast last September when I ran with him, but he does the Run Less Run Faster book program, which I also started three weeks bin. It's killer, but it was cool to see his results. My results are not that great yet, but I think they would be if I had not started the program injured. Hope everyone has a good running week!

Free Stuff

Want to try some free stuff? Lots of protein, and a little caffeine! Check out the links below:

Of course, you usually have to sign up for a newsletter or something, but with the EAS and pepsi, it allows you to print the coupon twice--so it's worth it to me!

Spring Break Group Runs

Mark your calendar ladies--Spring Break group runs are here! We have two weeks where babysitters are available, and we should take advantage of that. So here are my proposed dates:

Thursday 3/24. This will be the beginning of my first 3-a-day. So, let's get a sitter at 10am and go on a group run. Then, I am also going to do a night run that evening around 8pm. It would be a GREAT time to practice running with all your night gear. Trust me, you want to practice. (And I'll also be running Friday am. Any takers?)

Wednesday 3/30. Same time?? 10am? (If there is a better start time, let me know)

Saturday 4/2. This will be the MEGA HUGE last long run before the race. Let's start at 7am and run the Coal Creek Trail. We will have runners doing all different miles, all different paces, so everyone come--there will be someone to run with for sure.

I am also contemplating a Monday 3/28. Thoughts?

I figure if we each pitch in a couple bucks an hour the babysitter will make a mint, and we'll get to run in the sunshine. It's a win/win!

Talk soon!

Start Time

Post Edit: The Pace Document is uploaded. Some things didn't convert, so it doesn't look pretty, but all the vital info is there. Just click the link.

We have an official start time! 7am. Jarrie gets a nice, early start on the day. Our predicted finish is 4:30pm on Saturday.

California, here we come!

Steamboat Run

Kara and I had a great 3-ish mile run up at Steamboat this weekend! We didn't have the best of outfits packed and ready for a good run, and we were SO not used to hill runs - but it was a great run! And of coarse it helped justify the enjoyment of a good hour and a half in the hot tub shortly after!
And yay for Ragnar - only one month away!

MOM Logos

Hi Ladies! My sister-in-law sent these over to me last night. She is amazing! Her blog is kikicreates.blogspot.com and her etsy shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/kikicomin. I told her instead of us paying her money, I would have all of you forward out her sites on your facebook, blogs, etc. So I would appreciate all of your help!!

Anyways, what do you think? Which one do you like, which color, do you have any other suggestions, or something you want to add? Let me know and we can get this logo done!!
