What's on your feet?

Sometime this month, I will be buying new running shoes - my race shoes.  I've always run in Asics and I like them, but I'm totally willing to try new ones.  Since I'm not a hardcore runner (yet!?!), and you ladies are... tell me what you wear so I can try them out when I get the chance to go shopping.  Thanks!

(Tara, I remember you saying something about your Nike's, but I don't remember the model name?)

  1. My suggestion for finding a good running shoe is go to a actual running store (not a Dick's or Gart Sports etc.) and have them watch you run on a treadmill. Solepepper's in Louisville or Boulder running company and probably many others do the treadmill test. The brand is not as important as the type of running shoe it is. People run differently and on different parts of their foot more than other parts of their foot therefore a shoe that is fabulous for me might not be a good fit for you. The sales people at running stores are runners and will be able to help you find a shoe that works best for your "style" of running. Good luck!

  2. I always run in asics, I have tried to switch so I can have cooler shoes, but all the others just don't fit right. I agree with Adrienne, the treadmill test is the best way to find what shoe will work best for you.

  3. I always love the shoes I get when I go to Boulder Running company and do the treadmill test. But someone told me solepepper is less crowded. Right now I am TOTALLY in love with my Nikes. I have the Structure Triax 11, and, on a good tip from Amber, just ordered the Triax 12 for about $55 (which is a smokin deal!) I've said it before and I'll say it again, good shoes make all the difference in the world!

  4. So, I'm not sure if I'm loving the 12's. Since I got them from Nordstroms and still have the receipt, I'm contemplating bringing them back. I'm not sure if it's just me or if it's the shoes. I'm going to go to Sole Peppers today and do the test again and see what they say. I have to have a good pair of shoes!!!

  5. So, I went to Sole Pepper and they told me that I was definitely in the right shoe. In fact, they would have recommended the Nike 12's to me anyway. Apparently I just needed some good socks. I bought some and they feel wonderful.

  6. SHOES matter, I used to have an IT band problem and now I don't. I went to physical therapy forever thinking it wasn't the shoes. Once I bought the asics 3010's I haven't felt a single knee issue.....

So find what is right, try them all on with a treadmill camera thing, talk to the people who know what they are talking about.

    It makes a difference
